It happens that even the most sociable people get lost in a new company. News, weather and food cannot be discussed endlessly. And if the conversation is no longer going well, it’s time to get out the party games. Not “Mafia”, I’m already tired of it. And not “Twister”: everyone has just filled their bellies and hardly wants to crawl on all fours. "Mel" selected five simple games that can excite bored guests before they bury their noses in their smartphones.

1. Come on, Jack!
"Hijack" or "hijacker" is a simple and very fun game. Half of the rules are made up by the players themselves. The only thing required is a deck of cards and “penalty” treats (e.g. grapes, gummy bears, candy). You can play without penalties - for elimination.

Before the start of the game, participants assign certain words or gestures to a couple of cards, which will need to be repeated by all players. For example, greet the jack with the phrase “High, Jack” and salute the king. The presenter holds the deck face down and, accelerating the pace, reveals cards one by one in the center of the table. When the agreed card comes up, everyone immediately performs the action as agreed. Anyone who mixes up gestures or enters the game at the wrong time receives a fine. And so on until the last card, which now becomes marked and receives its own gesture or word. The role of the leader passes in a circle.

The new leader comes up with a word or action for the next card. For example, saying “butterfly” in German (Schmetterling) or yawning when a seven is rolled. The further you go, the funnier it is: here even the most persistent people begin to get confused in tricky words and gestures like “reach the nose of the person sitting on the left/pat on the shoulder of the person sitting on the right.” During the game, many funny moments happen - there will be something to remember the next time you gather with the same company.

2. To the barrier!
All people are divided into two types... If you already want to argue, then this game is your option. Pizza with tuna or pineapple? Live a bright short life or a boring long one? What's cooler: being able to fly or walking through walls?

The box with the board game “IliTo”, which is sold in stores, contains 60 questions that can cause heated debate. But who’s stopping you from coming up with your own? If you do not have ready-made cards, you can first distribute paper to the participants and ask them to come up with pairs that do not involve alternatives or compromises.

Papers with questions are sent to the hat. The first player reads out a random pair, without revealing his answer until the others have finished discussing. At the end of the discussion, the player answers the question himself, while commenting on how the speakers' arguments influenced him.

In the process, you learn a lot about those sitting at the table, almost like in "I have never...", but without the incriminating revelations. The game is contraindicated for overly passionate debaters, bores and logic teachers. But it is perfect for dreamers and those who like to speculate about the meaning of life.

3. The dog got confused
A dog can bite only because of the dog's life - this is exactly what the cute and original board game “Troubleed by the Dog” is about, in which children and adults temporarily find themselves in the shoes of man’s best friends.

A serious struggle broke out in the yard for a bone, a sausage and a trash can. Each player controls a motley pack of dogs, which he received when the cards were dealt. The goal is to claim your rights to various city objects, that is, to bark at them properly. But your opponents’ cats are always getting in the way and changing the rules, so it’s not so easy to take over a phone booth and a cart with hot dogs. The one who collects the richest collection of “treasures” wins.

The game is exciting from the first turn. You can easily play it with people you barely know: no shared memories or unnecessary body movements are required. Clear rules, tokens with watercolor drawings, charming dog characters of different breeds from mongrel to basset hound - this game has many advantages. You will have to rely on both luck and calculation. In some places you can even bluff.

4. The delirium of madmen
The craziest game in our selection. A delirious patient comes to the doctor and recounts his visions to him. Two glitches, good and evil, act behind the doctor’s back: they show scenes and depict different concepts (how do you like this: “a crushed conductor’s baton”?). You can come up with phrases yourself, or you can stock up in the store with a box called “Honey mushrooms” - it will contain cards.

A patient pours out his soul at an appointment, a doctor makes a diagnosis, glitches strive to be heard - everyone in the game has their own goal. Then everyone switches roles, and so on until they are blue in the face, until they let go. “Honey mushrooms” are wonderful for getting rid of serious faces and inconvenience in a new company and creating a relaxed atmosphere. For all lovers of nonsense and pantomime, this is just what the doctor ordered.

5. The Last Hero
A game of survival, elimination and exposure, in which there are no main or supporting roles. Imagine your company is flying in a hot air balloon. Where? To a desert island. Alas, not all crew members are equally useful, so only two will reach the goal, while the others will be mercilessly thrown out of the basket. The intrigue is that everyone plays under a mask unknown to him.

First, everyone in a circle comes up with professions and writes them on pieces of paper, then the pieces of paper are mixed and glued to each other’s foreheads. The player has several goals: to survive, choose a worthy companion for life on the island and guess what profession he has been assigned. It is forbidden to pronounce what is written, but you can list the skills inherent in representatives of different professions.

Now that the neighbor on the left has become a pastry chef, the neighbor on the right has become a designer, and the one opposite is an architect, try to come up with arguments why you should get rid of them at the start, and you (the hereditary fortune teller) should definitely be left on board.
